How To Ensure that Your Sqeeze Page Makes Money
This simple question seems to elude most marketers. The unfortunate thing is that I’m not just referring to beginning marketers. Very many experienced marketers that I am in contact with, simply do not know how to make sure that their websites make money.
While I’m sure that there are many different ways to know whether you are realizing a profit or a net loss, I am going to quickly take you through the steps that I take.
I also want to mention that I cannot go into detail on how to do any of the steps that I outline, there are very many other resources for that. At least this short guide will provide you with a good outline that you can use and refer to.
Step one: You need to know at what percentage your squeeze page is converting.
How do we accomplish this? Your conversion rate is simply a calculation at which the visitors to your site are taking the action that you wish them to take. You need to know how many visits you are getting and how many actions are being taken.
I recommend installing a Google Analytics script. First, visit their site and set up an account. The site will guide you through exactly how to do that. This is the easiest way to gauge the number of visitors that you are receiving.
The second step depends on the action that you wish your visitors to take. If you are selling something, then you just need to know how many sales you made. If you had 2000 visitors on a given month and you sold 40 items then you know that your product converts at 2%. If your product is $50 then you earned $2000 that month.
Now you know whether your traffic generation techniques are profitable or not. You already know that you can afford to pay up to $1 per visitor to break even.
If the action you wish your visitors to take is to opt in to your mailing list, then the calculations are a little more complicated.
If we assume that your squeeze page converts at 50% then your 2000 visitors will result in a list of 1000. We can, however, do a quick calculation base on the success of your one time offer. If your one time offer converts at a modest 5% and it is priced at a modest $10 then your 1000 list members result in 50 sales a month for a $5000 per month income.
I understand that as list builders, we intend to continue to monetize our lists over time. However, if we can be in profit immediately then we know that our business will be a success.
